Adopt Cai

Collie · Male · Young · 1 year

Meet Cai, a charming young boy ready for a new adventure! This handsome pup hails from a working line and has a genuine enthusiasm for training. However, his attention span can be short. When he’s had enough, he playfully lets you know by grabbing his favourite toy and tossing it at you, using your head or back as a target is one of his favourite tricks! But don’t worry, he quickly shifts back to “let’s play fetch for ages!” mode. Cai is more motivated by toys than treats, though his interest can vary based on his environment and mood. Cai would thrive with active adopters who have plenty of space and understand the needs of collies. He requires exercise, mental stimulation, enrichment, and training to flourish. This spirited boy loves living life in the fast lane, and his new family will need to keep up! Cai knows several cuess, including “sit,” “down,” “wait,” “paw,” and “place.” He’s a real character, and the staff and volunteers adore his playful, bold spirit. After a good session of exercise and brain games, he enjoys lounging in the shade, seeking some affection, or retreating to his kennel for a well deserved break. While Cai may not have a lot of stamina, likely due to his time in the kennel and the six cluster seizures he experienced in February 2026, he remains full of life. However, he is not quite the same dog he was when he first arrived. We genuinely hope this sweet boy finds a loving home soon. Cai ideally needs a home with experience in managing epilepsy.

About Cai

What life with Cai looks like

Cai is a young adult collie dog waiting at All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cai, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cai?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cai on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cai if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cai already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cai isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cai and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
