Cali

Female · Puppy · 14 months

Beautiful girl Cali is looking for her forever home. Cali has the most amazing temperament and is very loving. She is cheeky and mischievous but also very loyal and loves nothing but to sit beside someone for a cuddle! She is very strong and can pull on the lead, unfortunately she has had very little lead training and this is completely new to her. A large enclosed garden would be beneficial as it is something she is not used to but we feel she would love the freedom of. Cali is good around children and has lived with them previously, due to her size, an adult only home or children over 5 would be best suited. We would guess she would be around 25 30kg. She has lived in a multi dog household before however we feel she may be best as the only pet in the home. Not cat tested. Cali has never experienced the car so this will be a new experience for her. Although she has had a fairly sheltered life without much socialisation this girl has lots of potential to be a fantastic dog. She is still young so has lots of opportunity to flourish with time and patience. If you feel you are the perfect match for Cali please contact the office directly on or click on “Request to adopt Cali now”.

About Cali

What life with Cali looks like

Cali is a large puppy/kitten dog waiting at DAWGS.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cali, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cali?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DAWGS handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cali on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cali if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DAWGS will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cali already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cali isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DAWGS early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cali and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
