Caligula

Mixed Breed · Unknown

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Caligula has found his luck! His story: Our little Emperor Caligula lives right now with his mother and his siblings Lara, Anaya, Amela, Romina, Leni, Larry, and Eumel in Romania and waits there for his ticket to happiness. Caligula was named on-site "The Sleepy One." Relaxed, balanced, and always ready for a nap. That's our Caligula. But don't worry, Caligula also has energy, is very playful, and finds great fun in exploring the surroundings. But his relaxed, compliant, and uncomplicated nature makes him already a great companion. Caligula loves people and stays also deeply relaxed with children. He plays best with toys and his siblings and loves cuddles. If there were already a cat resident in his future home, that would also be okay for Caligula. The little sweetie has beautiful light fur and a black button nose. His mother has a height of about 45 cm. Therefore, and due to his current size, we assume that Caligula will reach a similar size. Even the most relaxed dog cannot do without a little training. So Caligula also has to learn the Dog ABCs. As he already shows a very compliant nature, we are sure that he will quickly learn the rules for a life in a household. With lots of love, empathy, and consistency, the sweet Wonneproppen will soon become a lifelong friend. Has Caligula already wrapped you around his paw? Then feel free to contact us! Also, the chance of a foster home would be wonderful so that the cute little guy doesn't have to grow up behind bars. Caligula travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his new home. Neutered, he is still not old enough. With him, he has his EU Companion Animal Passport. Thank you Gaby for this strong name. You have not only given Caligula an identity but also the chance at a family.

About Caligula

What life with Caligula looks like

Caligula is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caligula, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caligula?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caligula on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caligula if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caligula already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caligula isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caligula and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
