Adopt CALIX

Unknown · Senior · 20 years

Very affectionate cat, easy to handle with people, but does not get along with other cats. Lives in a cottage, CALIX likes to go out, a garden away from a busy road is essential for him. He needs a real adaptation time, the 3 weeks of pre-adoption will be a minimum for him. Update as of 28/10/2018: CALIX has changed foster family (due to personal reasons of his foster family). CALIX is a nice cat. He loves cuddles. However, he does not tolerate other cats! For 4 years, he has been living in an apartment and it's going well, so he can live in an apartment or a house. Update as of 07/11/2018, message from the foster family: He is really cute this little cat. Very affectionate, very kind. A real love! Not a bit of aggression. He just makes a characteristic meow when he wants me to leave him alone. Update as of 25/11/2019: CALIX is NOT okay with dogs. Therefore, a family without other animals will be needed.

About CALIX

What life with CALIX looks like

CALIX is a senior cat waiting at Refuge Rêves de chiens in Viry-Châtillon.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting CALIX, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CALIX?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Refuge Rêves de chiens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CALIX on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CALIX if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Refuge Rêves de chiens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is CALIX already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CALIX isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Refuge Rêves de chiens early rather than rehoming privately; they know CALIX and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
