adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Calle has found a home! His story: Calle was allowed to travel from Romania to Germany in August and now lives in a foster home in Freising. Unfortunately, no one knows his backstory, as he, like many other dogs, was brought to the public shelter in Baia Mare by dog catchers. However, what we can be sure of is that Calle is a real treasure! In his foster home, Calle shows himself to be a loving, gentle, and friendly dog – whether it's adults or children, he greets them openly and calmly. In the house, Calle is quiet, likes to sleep, and enjoys extensive cuddles. He especially likes to lie in the middle of the path and is not easily disturbed – a true master of relaxation! Outdoors, Calle comes alive: He loves long walks in nature, walks calmly on a leash, and is always curious about his surroundings. Sometimes he also has a small stubborn streak and knows exactly what he wants. Playing is a highlight for Calle, he can get especially excited about balls and is happy to play with any game. With other dogs, Calle is still a bit unsure, but can be easily distracted during encounters. In the shelter, he shared his pen problemlessly with a female dog. A gentle getting-to-know-you phase should be planned with new dogs. Calle is very food-oriented, which makes training easier – for treats, he (almost) does everything! Additionally, he is house-trained and can already be left alone for a little while. Even rides with public transportation are known to Calle, and he masters them problemlessly. Only unfamiliar stairwells or closed rooms initially unsettle him, but with patience and support, he adapts well. Calle wishes for a loving home where he can rest, play, and be part of a family. A daily life with long walks, shared experiences, and affectionate affection would be his heaven on earth. Calle will come neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home. We thank heartily the namespender Ruth M., who gave Calle his name and thus a personal identity. As of: 31.10.

Stand: 31.10.2025

About Calle

What life with Calle looks like

Calle is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Calle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Calle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Calle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Calle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Calle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Calle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Calle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
