adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Calli has found a home! His story: There are stories that break our hearts, and Callis's story is one of them. He was rescued from the public shelter in Zalau – a place that offers little hope to many dogs and where life often ends too soon. It's hard to imagine the fears and hardships the small male dog experienced in his previous life. But Calli has decided to give the world one more chance. With a size of about 40 cm and a weight of around 12 kg, Calli is a rather delicate companion who initially reacts very reservedly. In the first days with our animal welfare workers: he only hid in his hut, the insecurity was too great. But then the little miracle happened: Calli sensed that no one wanted to hurt him anymore. He mustered all his courage, sought the proximity of our animal rescuer Alexandra, and asked for his first cuddles very shyly. Now Calli clearly shows us that he actually enjoys human proximity, even though sudden movements or unknown situations still unsettle him. He is an absolutely gentle soul without any aggression. He gets along well with his fellow animals and often follows their lead. Therefore, an alpha-only dog would also be a good option, but it is not a must. Whether Calli gets along with cats, we do not know. For his new life, we wish Calli a quiet, patient home where he can settle in at his own pace. He needs people who can give him security and show him how wonderful a dog life by a loved one can be. Ideally, they should already have experience with anxious dogs. It could be that Calli retreats again at first. He will need time and space, because we also do not know if Calli is already familiar with life in a house. This could unsettle him at first. In the end, however, his curiosity will likely prevail. Then it will be time to take him by the paw and show him how beautiful life can be. Once he has gained trust, he will also be ready to learn. Calli travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, together with his EU pet passport. After a positive But also a foster home would be a wonderful start to a life outside of bars. Thank you, Anne A., with your nametag sponsorship, you have given Calli an identity and the chance to finally arrive. As of: 19.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 19.12.2025

About Calli

What life with Calli looks like

Calli is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Calli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Calli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Calli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Calli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Calli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Calli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Calli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
