adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Cally stays forever in Romania! Her story: 2 sisters to fall in love with! Sakura and Cally, incredibly beautiful and so unique, are currently waiting at the public shelter in Bistrita for their request, which will change their lives forever. Who can help them? Our two sisters have already lived for a very long time at the public shelter in Bistrita. One day, our Emilia let them out into the open run, where both quickly searched the farthest reaches and climbed over the fence. The two didn't run away, but they live right in front of the shelter, get their daily food there, and take their own rounds. Unfortunately, our helpers are still not able to catch them – because both are incredibly shy. Neither can they be touched properly nor do they resist when someone comes too close. Who can blame them? After sitting in the shelter for so many years, as puppies already, and only knowing fear and terror, we don't find it surprising. Cally is estimated to be around 4.5 years old and has an approximate shoulder height of 55 cm. She is beautiful and a very delicate and sensitive being. She doesn't run away from us and we can take a few pictures without her getting too close – but we still can't touch her. We hope, however, that we will be able to do that soon and to find her a home faster – Cally shouldn't continue hiding in misery! For Cally, we wish a family in a quiet, rural environment, where she can get used to everything in peace. Her new owners should already have some dog experience, because Cally will certainly not be easy at first. She has to learn a lot – no, everything! – and therefore needs particularly patient and empathetic people who accept her as she is and let Cally set her own pace. Cally gets along well with other animals and a fellow dog would surely help her to get used to her new life faster. She doesn't know cats – these should be older and have responsible interaction with dogs. We cannot test her with cats. Cally looks forward to a home with a well-fenced garden, where she can get used to her new life in small steps. Cally travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home. She will only be placed in a home after a positive assessment. She brings her EU Companion Animal Identity Card and would also be very happy with a foster home! Who gives Cally a chance? As of: 13.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 13.05.2023

About Cally

What life with Cally looks like

Cally is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cally, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cally?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cally on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cally if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cally already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cally isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cally and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
