Adopt Camillo

Maine Coon · Male · Senior · 16 years

Hey folks,... when is the right can opener finally coming for me?? I'm sooo bored here, even though you can see I'm well fed. But now that spring is coming, I'm stuck in here, really unfairly! I want to go out again with my big paws and explore the world. As you can see, I'm still very fit despite my pre-existing conditions and I want a new chance. Everyone here says they don't understand why no one wants such a great tomcat. So give yourselves a push and come visit me! Until soon, your Camillo Hello, I am Camillo. I was brought to the animal shelter because my owner sadly passed away. The new impressions and other cats here are really getting to me. For an old tomcat like me, this is all too much stress. I would like to move to a new home as a single prince, preferably with many escape options, and have my people all to myself. I'm usually a nice guy with trusted people, but I'm a bit suspicious of strangers. Now I like to snuggle a lot, but sometimes it gets too much for me and I retreat. I can clearly show when something doesn't suit me. So better no children in my new home – and no dogs either, because I don't like them. As an outdoor cat, I've explored the world my whole life, so apartment living is not suitable for me. The veterinarians have found high blood pressure in me, so I have to take a small tablet daily. But I take it without a problem in my tasty treat stick, which is very easy. Additionally, I rely on special kidney diet food, as the high blood pressure and of course my advanced age are leading to problems. If you want to give an old tomcat a nice life, then feel free to contact my caretakers at the animal shelter!

Euer Camillo

About Camillo

What life with Camillo looks like

Camillo is a senior maine coon cat waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

Frequently asked

Adopting Camillo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Camillo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Camillo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Camillo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Camillo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Camillo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Camillo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
