Canela

Mixed Breed · Female

Canela ID No.: 1032827 Breed: mixed breed Age: approx. 09/2022 Sex: female Shoulder height: approx. 55 cm Neutered/Spayed: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Canela – Joyful spirit on four paws seeks her forever home! Canela (shoulder height approx. 55 cm) was surrendered by her previous owners because they no longer wanted to keep her. Thus, the lovely female dog arrived at our animal shelter—unsure of herself, full of energy, and lacking proper training. Initially, she was somewhat jumpy and reactive toward other dogs, but Canela has learned quickly: today, she lives harmoniously in a mixed dog group, playing, sleeping, eating, and going for walks alongside her canine friends. Canela is an active, cheerful, and intelligent female dog looking for people who enjoy exercise, nature, and mental stimulation together. A home willing to train with her and show her how wonderful life in a family can be would be her greatest happiness. In the stressful environment of the animal shelter, Canela sometimes finds it hard to reveal her gentle side—but as soon as she settles down, her loving character shines through. With a bit of patience and dedication, she will become a loyal, joyful companion who’d go through fire for her humans. Initially, we are hoping for a home without small children for Canela, as she still needs some training. However, she gets along well with older, dog-experienced children. She can also live peacefully with other dogs—she enjoys companionship and playtime. If you can imagine giving this charming powerhouse of a girl a loving home and walking through life together with her, we’d be thrilled to hear from you. Canela will be rehomed vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and provided with an EU pet passport upon travel arrangements. About Canela

What life with Canela looks like

Canela is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Canela, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Canela?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Canela on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Canela if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Canela already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Canela isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Canela and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
