Canela

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 3 years

Bretonin Canela seeks her island of peace The beautiful girl with the soft fur wishes a caring home where she can finally arrive and just be a dog. In the animal shelter Canela shows her best side: She is relaxed in dealing with other dogs and well-tolerated. Patient and calm she waits until someone finds time for her and then is happy about every small attention. However, the daily hustle and bustle, the loud barking and the constant unrest in the animal shelter's everyday life visibly affect her. She is unsettled by the loud environment and longs for a place of peace and security. Whoever looks into Canela's gentle eyes immediately recognizes what a sensitive and loving treasure is hidden in her. The pretty princess is looking for people who meet her with patience and give her the security she is so desperately missing at the moment. How beautiful would a cozy, warm basket with toys, extensive walks and people who love her from the heart be! If you want to give a faithful, friendly female dog a chance and pave the way for Canela to a happy dog life, please contact us. The dear mouse is eagerly waiting for your message! A foster home would also greatly help Canela. Here is the link to Canela's video

About Canela

What life with Canela looks like

Canela is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Canela, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Canela?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Canela on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Canela if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Canela already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Canela isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Canela and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
