Canela

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Canela - Gentle Heart Puppy Seeks Forever Home Canela was rescued as a puppy in southern Spain and lived from April 2021 to October 2026 in a family with two children and a house with a garden. Since her owner is working again and Canela cannot be left alone permanently, she is looking for a new home. Since mid-October 2026 she has been living in a foster home in Günzburg. In the apartment she behaves quietly, stays in her bed and does not bark at noises in the stairwell or encounters with other dogs. Canela is a loving and loyal dog who enjoys closeness and petting. She lets herself be brushed and stroked without being pushy or clinging to her caregivers. Outdoors she walks on a leash, orients herself to her caregiver and is unimpressed by traffic, trains or elevators. She gets along with other dogs and children and likes to go for walks for one to two hours. Special features: Canela reacts anxiously to thunderstorms, fireworks and loud noises. She needs a home where she is not left alone for long. Important note on

About Canela

What life with Canela looks like

Canela is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Günzburg in Günzburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Canela, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Canela?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Günzburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Canela on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Canela if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Günzburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Canela already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Canela isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Günzburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Canela and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
