Hij heeft ook het karakter van een Anatolische herder: hij waakt graag over zijn familie en is bijzonder lief en aanhankelijk. De meeste tijd is hij kalm en kan niets hem raken, maar als het nodig is, toont hij dat hij heel vlug en wendbaar is. Zo’n herder heeft ruimte nodig, zowel binnen als buiten, en ook een zachtaardige baas die hem wel de baas blijft. Cango is geen knuffelhondje voor doetjes, maar hij is wel één grote brok liefde.
