Caprice

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Age: born around 2015 Color: beige, white Breed: crossbreed Size: medium (about 25 kg) Spayed: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Arrival at Remember Me Land: February 2017, in foster care with Claire since March 2018 Harmonies: okay with dogs, okay with horses, okay with children Temperament: according to her FA February 2024: Caprice is a very dominant female. She is dangerous for people who enter her territory and whom she does not know. She does not hesitate to attack (she has bitten several times – mostly men, but not only – and I confine her if someone she does not know comes to the house). She can also be very aggressive with dogs, especially if they are smaller than her or have a disability (she has attacked my deaf dog and my small dogs several times – she reacts and triggers a fight at the slightest provocation). She kills stray cats if they enter her territory. On the other hand, she has learned to respect the poultry (she has killed several hens but does not do it anymore). SHE IS ADORABLE WITH HER FAMILY (loves children) and with people she sees regularly. Children okay, male dogs of her size okay, house with a well-fenced yard (climbs the gate to attack people who stop by my house). Someone with a lot of experience with dominant and reactive dogs. If a dog, it must be a large male or alone, unless managed by a very competent person. She must never be left alone with small dogs. At my place, she lives in a pack (she knows who is the leader), but I do not recommend this lifestyle to a potential future adopter. No cats: she kills them. Last summer, she killed a stray cat that entered her territory. But I do not have a house cat at my place – maybe she would accept a family cat? She is clean and wants to go out. She knows how to walk on a leash: Normally, once out of her territory, she is no longer dangerous, but I only take her out for vet visits because I have a 5-hectare field. She can be left alone without issue. She does no damage. CAPRICE HAS NO FEAR. She is a go-getter who never hesitates. No walks outside the yard. She starts to get allergies to insects in the spring and summer.

About Caprice

What life with Caprice looks like

Caprice is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Remember Me France in France.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caprice, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caprice?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Remember Me France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caprice on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caprice if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Remember Me France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caprice already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caprice isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Remember Me France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caprice and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
