Adopt Capucine

Female · Young · 3 years

Capucine is part of the large seizure by authorities of Yugoslav shepherds. The dogs were found alive in enclosures, and for some, their only food was pebbles and pieces of wood. In this context, Capucine shows particular fear, which unfortunately suggests a difficult past. When she is trusting, she reveals another side: a dog very close to humans, gentle and affectionate. But for that, she needs time, patience and a lot of kindness. It is a large breed with a soft heart, a sensitive dog who has a lot to discover about family life. We know nothing more about her past, but we are convinced that with a reassuring environment, she can positively evolve in a home. Capucine probably knows nothing about family life: everything will therefore have to be learned with her, gradually and gently, respecting her pace. Interactions with other dogs will have to be tested at the shelter. She doesn't know cats. She could suit a household with children, as she shows great gentleness and a beautiful ability to adapt despite her past. Today, we hope for her a family ready to show her everything she has never had the chance to know, so that she can finally fully enjoy her life as a dog.

About Capucine

What life with Capucine looks like

Capucine is a young adult dog waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Capucine, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Capucine?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Capucine on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Capucine if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Capucine already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Capucine isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Capucine and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
