Caracol

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Caracol appeared alone and frightened in a village. Fortunately, there are good people who do not look away and who seek to help. Caracol is a large mixed-breed dog with an even bigger heart. His story has not been easy: he appeared abandoned in a village, very thin, and with a large wound on his body. With care and affection, his wound healed, his fur grew back, and today he is magnificent. At first, he was a shy dog, but behind this shyness hides a cheerful dog who only needs time, patience, and love to show everything inside. With the person who fed him, he learned that he could trust, especially when he saw that she was accompanied by her dog: this makes us say that Caracol feels safer in the company of another balanced dog who serves as a support and guide. He is still a bit wary of cars, and we even had to carry him to get him to climb, but he does it without a problem. He behaves very well on walks in quiet areas and parks, crossing paths with people, dogs, and cars without a problem. Caracol is waiting for a home where he can finally feel safe and loved forever. He gets along well with males and females, and during walks, he has never shown fear or reaction to the barking dogs behind their fences. When new people arrive at the shelter, he barks at them from a distance, but if they are not forced and the other dogs approach the people first, he gradually relaxes and eventually approaches as well. Caracol needs a family that understands that his trust is earned with calm and respect, that his nobility deserves to be discovered step by step. In return, he will bring the loyalty and gentleness of a dog who has already experienced suffering despite his young age and is ready to start a new life. Caracol was born on July 12, 2024, weighs 26 kg, is neutered, and is negative for leishmaniasis. Caracol lives in Spain, and in case of adoption, Galgos France takes care of the repatriation to France. About Caracol

What life with Caracol looks like

Caracol is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at 30 Millions d'Amis in Paris.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caracol, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caracol?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 30 Millions d'Amis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caracol on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caracol if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 30 Millions d'Amis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caracol already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caracol isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 30 Millions d'Amis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caracol and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
