adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Rest in Peace, Careen… Her story: The beautiful Careen is currently in the hopelessly overcrowded our shelter in Baia Mare. This is not a good place for a disappointed and unsettled dog, as here at the shelter, Careen gets food and shelter, but not human affection and mental stimulation. That's why we want to give her a new chance – so that her life takes a different direction, she is seen on this side, and finds a real home. We estimate Careen to be around four years old, and with a shoulder height of 60 to 65 cm, she is a large, strong female dog with a dense, white coat with black-brown spots. Careen looks into the camera with uncertain brown eyes, as her trust in us seems to have been lost. She gets along well with male dogs, but her behavior with other female dogs has unfortunately not yet been tested. The beautiful, strong female dog is desperate and completely unsettled by life in such a cramped space behind bars. She shows this to us clearly, as she behaves defensively and currently does not allow any touch. We are, however, optimistic that experienced dog people can work with Careen's insecurity and show her a way to build new trust and lead a normal dog life by the side of patient people. Therefore, we wish for Careen experienced and patient adopters who have plenty of time for mental stimulation with her and who are willing to lead and train a strong and large female dog. Ideally, the female dog should be rehomed in a rural, less stimulating environment where she can reduce her stress and find peace. After the initial settling period, Careen will surely enjoy a visit to a positively working dog training class, as regular, professional training will give her stability and strengthen the bond to her new person. If you are the people who want to find a way into Careen's heart and give her new hope for life, then contact us. An experienced foster home could also help Careen as a stepping stone into her species-appropriate life. The pretty female dog can travel to her new home with an EU pet passport, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, and flea-treated. She is named after Caro B., the namesake, and as of November 13.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen!Ruhe in Frieden, Careen… About Careen

What life with Careen looks like

Careen is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Careen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Careen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Careen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Careen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Careen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Careen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Careen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
