adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Carl has found a home! His story: Carl is a dog who simply demands a second look. With his beautiful black-brown curls and the cheeky white accents, he looks like a unique character straight out of a fairy tale. What exactly lies within him? That remains Carl's sweet secret! His motto is "Everything can, nothing must" – he is a wonderful wonderbag on four legs, currently estimated to be around 43 cm and 11 kg, and likely to maintain a pleasant medium size. Carl is currently about 7 months old. Carl's story could have had a sad ending: he was rescued from the public shelter in Zalau and now has the chance to live a real life in our private shelter. Despite this dark past, Carl proves every day what a fine fellow lies within him. Carl is not a daredevil, but a true heartbreaker: he is sweet, active, and meets us humans incredibly friendly and self-assured. Every time you visit him, you are greeted with enthusiastic tail-wagging. He is curious about life and likes to be very close to his trusted people. He also gets along well with his fellow animals. Cats have not been tested. Carl is currently about half a year old and is now at the exciting threshold of puberty. This means: he brings a healthy portion of youthful curiosity, but also needs people who can guide him through this formative time and the hormone chaos with humor and loving consistency. As he has barely had the chance to learn anything so far, he wants to learn the entire dog ABC – from house training to relaxed alone time – first. Carl is ready to hit the books and grow together with his people, as long as there is enough time for cuddle sessions at the end of the day. Karl travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, together with his EU pet passport to his new home. But also a foster home would be a good start for the charming Carl into a better future. Who gives this charming survival artist the ticket to a new life and shows him how beautiful the world can be with his own family? On behalf of Carl, we thank Peggy W.! You have given the charming Carl his name and thus an identity. As of: 13.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Was genau in ihm steckt?

About Carl

What life with Carl looks like

Carl is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
