Carla

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Young · 2 years

Beautiful Carla is looking for a very special place to call her own. A peaceful barn, smallholding, stable yard, or rural property where she can live life on her own terms.Carla is a timid girl who doesn't ask for much. She isn't looking to be a lap cat or to have affection forced upon her. Instead, she's searching for a kind and understanding environment where she can quietly coexist alongside people, with the freedom to explore outdoors and enjoy her independence. She would love access to a secure barn, outbuilding, or similar shelter where she can feel safe, alongside someone who will provide regular food, fresh water, and keep an eye on her wellbeing while allowing her the space she needs to flourish.Carla would need an adult-only environment in a quiet rural setting. She cannot live with dogs, but she may be able to live alongside another calm cat.Every cat deserves a chance, and we truly believe there's someone out there who understands that love doesn't always mean cuddles. Sometimes, it's simply offering a safe place, a warm meal, and the freedom to be herself. If you think you could offer Carla the peaceful place she's been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you.

About Carla

What life with Carla looks like

Carla is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Cornwall Branch in Saint Columb.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Cornwall Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Cornwall Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Cornwall Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
