Carla

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Carla is a beautiful, approximately 53 cm tall Husky female. She is playful, friendly and gets along well with other dogs. Cats are no problem for Carla. She lives with her friend Steffy in a shelter that specializes in dogs with disabilities - animals that require a lot of care and attention. Carla and Steffy are healthy and very playful, but they get too little attention and care because the resources are needed for the handicapped dogs. The friendly dog approaches people openly. She shows herself playful, enjoys the attention of her owners and likes to make contact with them. It is clear that Carla knows and appreciates living with people. Whether Carla is already familiar with all the routines of a household cannot be said with certainty, as dogs are kept outside in Romania. However, since she has already lived in a home, she brings good conditions for this. The visit to the vet was completely problem-free, which shows that Carla behaves cooperatively and relaxed in unfamiliar situations. Now she is missing the right home, where she can arrive, be loved and fully develop her friendly nature. We are looking for either a loving foster home for Carla, which serves as a stepping stone to a happy dog life, or a forever home with sensitive and possibly experienced people. People who give her the time she needs to arrive, gain trust and settle in at their own pace. Carla enjoys the company of other dogs very much and would be very happy to share her new home with a confident companion. A friendly first dog could give her additional orientation and would be a wonderful play and cuddle partner. A visit to a dog school would also be a nice possibility to grow together. In addition to further training, Carla would get to know many new dog friends there and live out her fun contact with other furry friends. Whoever gives Carla this chance will experience how trust, joie de vivre and deep connection arise gradually. Can Carla get a soft bed for forever or for a time with you? Then please contact us! Carla is neutered and will be vaccinated, chipped and after a positive preliminary check with a protection contract. General note on our protégés: Our dogs in Romania are regularly visited so that we can reassess their behavior and development again and again. These personal impressions help us very much to convey a possible good picture of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment - with new people, new routines and new impressions - can also show itself differently. This is quite normal and is part of every change process. Many dogs open up faster at home and show sides that were not visible in the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are not a guarantee for every behavior in the new environment. They should give an orientation and show how the dog presents itself in the shelter - and what potential is in him. We are convinced: With patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and develop positively.

About Carla

What life with Carla looks like

Carla is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Carla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
