Adopt Carlo

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 7 months

Carlo currently lives together with his sister Klärchen at our shelter with Rodica. He is likely a mix of a Transylvanian Hound and shows himself to be a more shy and reserved male dog. Like his sister, it is assumed that typical Transylvanian Hound traits will become more pronounced as he develops—traits including a strong movement drive, a love for work, and possibly a prey drive. Carlo therefore requires just as much meaningful, active mental stimulation as well as a lot of patience and understanding. In April 2026, our board personally met Carlo and experienced him as a sensitive, fine young red, who still needs some time to build trust. He observes new situations from a distance and needs time. Although he would occasionally come closer to us to sniff, he still did not allow us to touch him. For Carlo, we wish to find dog-experienced people who can give him security, not pressure him, and allow him to come at his own pace. With patience and loving guidance, he will also develop into a loyal and reliable companion.

About Carlo

What life with Carlo looks like

Carlo is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Glückshunde Schweiz in Glueckshunde.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glückshunde Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glückshunde Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glückshunde Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
