adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Carlos has found a home! His story: Carlos has succeeded: After years in the shelter in Baia Mare, he now lives on a foster home in Germany and shows there every day what a wonderful dog lives within him. Finally, he can experience closeness, get to know everyday life, and be part of a life – and he does it simply great. Despite his past, Carlos never lost his faith in us humans. His ears were cropped, his tail docked – traces of a life where he had to function. But remaining is a friendly, gentle, and incredibly hopeful dog who simply wants to belong. With a shoulder height of about 70 cm and around 45 kg, Carlos is a stately, wonderful male dog with black-and-white fur. His black eyes radiate calm and kindness. He enjoys every pat and shows himself open and friendly in handling by people. Also with other dogs, Carlos is absolutely compatible. He can live as a second or third dog and understands himself well with female dogs as well as with castrated male dogs. Carlos is about 7 years old and ready to finally fit in. In everyday life, he shows himself curious, calm, and uncomplicated. He currently lives on the outskirts of town with forest proximity and masters environmental stimuli with sovereignness – cars, noises, or new situations do not unsettle him. Outdoors, he is pleasant to handle and reacts very well to clear, calm corrections. He can also stay alone well. Something like a city home, in the midst of the hustle and bustle, Carlos probably hasn't known for a long time. Things like leash running, house training, or basic commands, he only got to know now – and he makes great progress. He wants to learn, understand, and be liked. For Carlos, we wish an ideal home in a quiet location with a house and a securely fenced garden. City life in the midst of the hustle and bustle does not seem suitable for this large dog. What is important are people with time, patience, and the desire for real bonding. Carlos needs love. And a lot of it. Because he has a lot to give back. Treats leave him rather cold – but with bacon, he gets weak. With bacon, you catch mice… and Carlos's heart at the same time. Additionally, he has a charming quirk: shoes are particularly exciting for him – a little shoe fetish on four legs. Due to his cropped ears and the docked tail, Carlos unfortunately cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. Carlos is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated and has an EU pet passport. Thanks to Agatha for the nametag sponsorship and to Carmen O. and Mara B. for their monthly support. Who will finally give this special dog the home he so deserves? Status: 23.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 23.02.2026

About Carlos

What life with Carlos looks like

Carlos is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carlos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carlos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carlos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carlos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carlos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carlos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carlos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
