Carlota

Border Collie · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Some rescues are etched in memory forever, and Carlota's is one of them. Her story is an example of extraordinary survival. She was rescued after a very complex operation that required hours of patience and exceptional measures. At the time of rescue, it was discovered that she was nursing her puppies; thanks to her instinct, these (Karín, Sunna, and Nuru) were found and put to safety. We later learned that Carlota had endured neglect: she had escaped from her previous owner and survived months exposed to the elements without any help. Today, that chapter is over, and she is turning resolutely toward the future. Carlota is a Border Collie female with a haunting gaze. A brave survivor, she lived in the wild with her puppies, searching alone for food and shelter to save them. This abandonment made her timid and cautious, but never extinguished her gentleness. Today in the shelter, she is uncomfortable in a kennel and in noise. She prefers the courtyard, calm, and space. Sensitive and empathetic, Carlota needs time to trust. But when she feels safe, she seeks affection with infinite tenderness. Born in November 2023 ✔️ Walks well on a leash ✔️ Very calm in the car and at the veterinarian ✔️ Social with all dogs, regardless of size ✔️ Curious and incredibly gentle with the volunteers she knows Carlota is looking for a responsible adoption in a quiet home, ideally in the countryside. The presence of a balanced adult dog is essential to help her regain confidence. An experienced family with a fearful dog will be essential to give her the stability she so desperately needs. It's up to us to prove that humans can also be a source of security. CARLOTA interests you? About Carlota

What life with Carlota looks like

Carlota is a large puppy/kitten border collie dog waiting at 30 Millions d'Amis in Paris.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carlota, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carlota?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 30 Millions d'Amis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carlota on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carlota if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 30 Millions d'Amis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carlota already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carlota isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 30 Millions d'Amis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carlota and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
