Cartouche

European Shorthair · Male · Senior · 11 years

A sensitive cat looking for a calm home 🐾 This lovely 10-year-old cat came to us because, being sensitive and stressed, he had a lot of difficulty adapting to the arrival of a child in his home. The presence and demands of a young child proved too stressful for him. When he feels confident, he is affectionate, sociable and endearing. However, he can easily be intimidated by loud noises or sudden movements. He is a sensitive cat who will need a calm environment, as well as gentle people who respect his rhythm. 🏠 His future home: He has always lived in an apartment. To offer him the most serene environment possible, we are looking for a home without other animals and without young children, where he can take the time to adapt and regain his tranquility. 🩺 Health level: He is currently fed with a veterinary diet specific to urinary problems, as he tends to develop urinary stones. It will therefore be essential to strictly respect this diet and ensure regular monitoring of his urine. 📞 For any additional information or in case of interest, please contact us only by phone at 02. ❗ Please do not contact us by message, email or via social networks.

About Cartouche

What life with Cartouche looks like

Cartouche is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at SPA Valais in Uvrier.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cartouche, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cartouche?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Valais handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cartouche on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cartouche if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Valais will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cartouche already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cartouche isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Valais early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cartouche and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
