Cas

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 4 years

Cas is a 1-year-old Border Collie who was surrendered by his owners due to lack of time. They couldn't provide him with the attention he needed, so they made the difficult decision to give him up. Cas is an energetic and friendly dog who has grown up with small children. He can be left alone at home, but he prefers to be around people, so we are looking for a home where he won't be alone all day. In his previous home, he lived with rabbits that sometimes ran loose, and this worked out well. He doesn't get along with other dogs very well, he is more attached to people. However, an introduction to a calm, stable dog is possible. He loves going for walks and is a great walking companion. What does Cas need? A fun and active owner or family! An introduction to a calm dog is possible. Cats are unknown but seem possible. A home with children is possible. Type of animal: Dog Gender: Male Age: 18/03/2022

Soort dier: Hond Geslacht: Mannelijk Leeftijd: 18/03/2022

About Cas

What life with Cas looks like

Cas is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst in Belgium.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺAdopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Cas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
