Cassius

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Hi there, I'm Cassius... and if you're looking for a big softie with an even bigger heart, I think we should meet. Not too long ago, I was found wandering all on my own. I ended up at a vet practice, where everyone discovered I'd been carrying around a broken pelvis. Nobody knows exactly what happened to me, but the kind people there made sure I got the help I needed.I had my operation, took all my medicine like a very good boy, and now... well, you'd hardly know anything had ever happened!Every now and then, I have the tiniest little limp, but it doesn't stop me doing the important things in life, like asking for fuss, demanding attention, and rolling around on my back in the hope that someone will stop and give me a tickle. (It's one of my favourite hobbies, and I'm very good at it.)I've been told I'm a gorgeous big lad with a lovely temperament and lots of personality. Personally, I just think life is better when you've got someone to share it with. I'm the kind of cat who likes to be involved, whether that's supervising your day, flopping dramatically in the middle of the room, or curling up nearby after a good meal.I'm looking for a forever home where I can finally leave all that uncertainty behind. I could happily live with older, gentle children who know how to be kind and respectful with a cat, but I think I'd rather not share my home with dogs or other cats. After everything I've been through, I'd quite like to be your one and only and soak up all the love for myself.I've had a bit of a rough start, but I haven't let it take away my trust or my zest for life. I've still got so much affection to give and so many happy years ahead of me. All I need now is a family to share them with. So, what do you think? Have you got room on your sofam and maybe in your heart for one very handsome, belly-up, fuss-loving boy? About Cassius

What life with Cassius looks like

Cassius is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cassius, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cassius?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cassius on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cassius if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cassius already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cassius isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cassius and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
