Adopt Castle

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Castle is a charming, three-year-old Galgo female dog who immediately wins hearts with her active, cheerful nature. With a shoulder height of about 65–75 cm and her elegant, athletic build, she embodies the typical traits of her breed: graceful, agile, and full of joy. Castle shows no fear—quite the opposite, she meets everyone with an open, social demeanor. Since nine weeks in the shelter, she has seamlessly integrated into a mixed group of Galgos and Podencos. She is particularly relaxed in the company of greyhounds, as these sensitive, intelligent hunting dogs, like Galgos, are known to be finely tuned, social, and often surprisingly cuddly once they have gained trust. Galgos are known for their lightness, their humor, and their often playful, cheerful nature—and Castle gets along wonderfully with them. Her confident, open nature helps her fit harmoniously into different canine personalities. Castle is an active female dog who enjoys movement and can also enjoy her quiet moments. She loves to flit across the open field in a secure run, showing the typical Galgo elegance. No definitive conclusions can be drawn about her interactions with cats or small dogs, but her generally friendly demeanor suggests a good foundation. For Castle, we wish for people who enjoy a sensitive, athletic greyhound and would like to offer her a loving home. A soft dog bed, affectionate care, and shared adventures—Castle would return them with a grateful, open heart. She is ready to begin her new life. Now, she just needs her family. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Castle

What life with Castle looks like

Castle is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Castle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Castle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Castle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Castle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Castle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Castle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Castle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
