Cat Gogh

Mixed Breed · Female

We are urgently looking for a temporary home for Cat Gogh – of course, adoption is also welcome. Cat Gogh is a cat whose story breaks the heart. She came to us in very poor condition, with a heavy past that is hard to forget. Her name refers to Van Gogh – not without reason. The cat is missing both ears, which is probably the result of a possible cancerous disease. We suspect that she was roaming the streets with a flat-cell carcinoma on her ears and someone wanted to help her, arranged for the procedure, and then released her. It is also possible that she once had a home? We don't know her history. We know her from the day she was brought to us in a cardboard box, practically lifeless. Although she is now in better condition, she has gained weight, the results are better, but her health is still a fragile balance. She suffers from advanced spondylosis, kidney problems, and chronic pancreatitis. Her teeth are in a tragic state, and her spinal pain has been quite severe. Despite this, Cat Gogh is a cat who longs for affection. She loves when we stroke her head, she is happy to see us and blinks her eyes. She does not like being touched on other parts of her body, possibly because she feels discomfort. Although her future is uncertain, we believe that Cat Gogh deserves one last, and probably final, chance. We are looking for someone who will open their heart to her suffering and pain, but also see her incredible will to live. She needs a home where someone will be able to give her medication, provide careful care, and most importantly, not be scared off by her illnesses. We cannot determine her age, but she is certainly older. She hisses at other cats, but that is rather out of fear. She could live with another calm cat. FIV and FeLV tests are negative. We do not know if she was spayed before, the ultrasound suggests that such a procedure was likely performed, but we are not sure. She will have to take medication and supplements for the rest of her life. Cat Gogh is waiting for her last chance.

Cat Gogh to kotka, której historia łamie serce. My ją znamy od dnia przyjęcia, kiedy została do nas przyniesiona w kartonie praktycznie bez życia.. Leki i suplementy będzie musiała brać do końca życia. Cat Gogh czeka na swoją ostatnią szansę.

About Cat Gogh

What life with Cat Gogh looks like

Cat Gogh is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cat Gogh, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cat Gogh?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cat Gogh on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cat Gogh if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cat Gogh already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cat Gogh isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cat Gogh and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
