Cati

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Our friends in Spain repeatedly have to experience that people treat their dogs unbelievably cruelly, that four-legged animals are abandoned, tortured and killed - and often with the incomprehensible justification that they are working and farm animals. Why so many Chihuahuas, terriers and poodles end up sad and forgotten in the care of ArcoNatura cannot be explained by these "animal keepers". It is all the more beautiful to see that more and more people take the side of animals, get involved in animal protection, demonstrate against bullfights and hunting drives, and are attentive to animal suffering in everyday life. Our new arrival Wuschel Cati also benefited from such people who no longer look away when a fellow creature is in need. Cati appeared one day in a residential area on the edge of Linares. A girl discovered the poor female dog, which could hardly move properly anymore because of her matted fur, in which painful thorns and branches had become entangled. Although Cati was initially very shy, the young animal rescuer had enough patience to calm down the approximately 7-year-old (as of 02/2022) dog and bring her to the care of ArcoNatura. Now the somewhat shy but very friendly mixed-breed female dog has been living in the animal shelter for just a few days. Cati has already had the first veterinary check-up, was freed from parasites and will also get a new stylish haircut and a pedicure. Cati is very patient with all of this, as if she understands that the loving hands want to help her. Touches are no longer threatening, and Cati seeks small attentions, cuddles and extra treats every day. Cati is a lovable, active and still curious being who urgently needs a nice home where she can receive the love she so longs for. We do not know what our tender and lovely Wuscheline has already experienced, but we wish that Cati never has to look back again, but instead only looks towards a wonderful future - a colorful and exciting one, by the side of people who care for her and will never leave her alone again.

About Cati

What life with Cati looks like

Cati is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cati, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cati?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cati on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cati if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cati already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cati isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cati and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
