adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Catriona has found a home! Her story: The magical Catriona and her two siblings Ziggy and Tiffy had a great start in life: their still pregnant mother Franzi was found on the streets of Romania and brought to a private foster home by our Romanian animal rescuer Anna. With a lot of luck and in safety, the little puppies were born. Now all three are big enough and are searching for their forever family. Franzi, the loving dog mom, is a small, 33cm and 8kg dog, which is why her puppies are also expected to be small to medium in size. There might be a Dachshund in her – a hint at her strong character. The small female dog has a shining black coat, with her white chest forming a beautiful contrast and making her a real looker! Due to her compact size, she is an ideal companion for smaller households. Catriona shows typical puppy behavior, being open and playful. With her sparkling eyes, she explores her surroundings with great enthusiasm and discovers new exciting things all the time. In the foster home, she lives with cats and is already familiar with them. Of course, Catriona still needs to learn puppy kindergarten. She requires dog parents with a lot of patience, as she doesn’t know house training, leash manners, or commands yet. Love and care are the best methods here. Naturally, one should always continue to learn and acquire knowledge. Attending dog training classes is also recommended to get support. During the pubertal phase, boundaries are thoroughly tested, and learned things are often forgotten. During this time, love should still be at the forefront. Patience and humor help to master this phase as a team. Are you ready to become Catriona's forever home? Catriona travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated. She will be ready to travel after positive Catriona is ready to travel. Heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Friedrichs for Catriona’s name and the valuable identity she has given her. As of 16.07.

Stand: 16.07.2024

About Catriona

What life with Catriona looks like

Catriona is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Catriona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Catriona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Catriona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Catriona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Catriona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Catriona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Catriona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
