Adopt Cecilia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

August 20, 2024: Two of our team members spontaneously set off to Sardinia in mid-August to personally get to know and photograph our shelter dogs. They also visited Calogero, Cecilia, and Cimina. Their siblings, Cesare, Cesarea, and Celenia, had already had the great fortune to travel to Germany. All three have developed into wonderfully cute puppies. Calogero and Cicilia were very open and enjoyed the cuddles. Cimina initially kept a bit of distance but after a certain time found out that it can be really great to be scratched behind the ears :-) We hope very much that they can soon leave their sad life in Canlie behind and find loving families where they can lead a happy dog life. September 3, 2025: A team member and her daughter sacrificed part of their vacation time to personally get to know or see some of the shelter dogs. They also met Cecilia and Cimina. The two sisters have lived in Canile since puppyhood—far too long already. Despite this, they are such wonderful dogs that with love, patience, and affection, they can become wonderful companions. Their sparkling, radiant eyes reflect their hope. Both were friendly, pleasant, and full of gentleness. Cecilia and Cimina are waiting for the chance to finally get a better life—a home where they will be loved and cared for. Would you like to give Cecilia or Cimina this chance? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption brings not only a lot of joy but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We facilitate adoptions nationwide.

03. About Cecilia

What life with Cecilia looks like

Cecilia is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cecilia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cecilia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cecilia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cecilia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cecilia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cecilia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cecilia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
