adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Certo can stay forever in his foster family! His story: The two-year-old Certo was kept by irresponsible people under inhumane conditions and then came to the Public Shelter in Baia Mare. He had a stroke of luck and could already travel to a foster home in Germany in August. In his foster home, Certo shows himself as a cheerful, friendly, and curious dog. Currently, he is learning the basics of being a house dog there. Certo is only about 35 cm tall, approximately 2.5 years old, and is likely a Shar Pei-Mix. He is a strong, muscular dog who stands out with his short, blonde fur and small, shell-shaped ears. Unfortunately, he has a small deformation on his right front leg – he turns it outward while running. This does not affect him in any way; he is still cheerful and active in all his activities. He is also well-tempered with other animals; in his foster home, he lives with several other dogs. After an adjustment period, a visit to a positively working dog training class would contribute to keeping Certo occupied and strengthening his bond with his new people. We wish Certo loving and patient adopters who will give him enough time to settle in and adapt to his new living situation. New people should already be informed about his breed and its characteristics and have plenty of time for him, as Shar Peis are willful dogs that need consistent training and a lot of family connection to develop optimally. Do you want to take the lovable Certo into your home, raise him with respect and consistency, and explain the world to him all over again? Then contact us. Certo will travel neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home. A special thank you goes to the namesake Marita R., who gave Certo his name. As of: 15.10. Gets along with other dogs.

About Certo

What life with Certo looks like

Certo is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Certo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Certo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Certo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Certo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Certo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Certo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Certo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
