Adopt Cesar

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

About 5 years old (born around February 3, 2021) 26 cm, 3.7 kg male, neutered, Leishmaniosis test positive Still in the animal shelter in Spain, Cesar is a social and affectionate little dog who greatly enjoys the company of humans. He gets along well with other dogs and is currently living comfortably with his pen partner Maggie, although Maggie clearly takes the lead. Cesar loves attention and often enjoys being the center of attention. As a result, he sometimes shows a small portion of jealousy, which makes him more charming than difficult. On the leash, Cesar already runs well and accompanies his humans attentively and uncomplicatedly in everyday life. His story began sadly: Cesar was found alone on the street by the police and brought to the state animal shelter. At first, it was assumed that someone would miss him and contact soon – but no one came to pick him up. Fortunately, he was then allowed to move into our partner animal shelter. There, Cesar now waits for people who would finally give him a proper home. Cesar is in good health. Like many little dogs, he sometimes lifts his hind leg while walking. His kneecaps were examined and are completely normal, so it is assumed that this is simply a habit. Cesar was also tested positive for leishmaniasis. He has received the appropriate treatment and is currently stable and well-adjusted. He only needs his daily medication. For more information on leishmaniasis, see here. For Cesar, we wish for a loving home where he can be part of the daily routine and receive a lot of affection. He is an uncomplicated dog and is also suitable for people without dog experience. Videos Mai 26:

About Cesar

What life with Cesar looks like

Cesar is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cesar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cesar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cesar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cesar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cesar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cesar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cesar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
