CEZAR

Male · Adult · 8 years

CEZAR is 8 years old and until recently knew only life in an apartment – no walks, strangers, or new stimuli. When his ailing guardian was admitted to a care home, he suddenly ended up in an animal shelter. Terrified of the change, he initially reacted with fear and didn't let anyone near him. Today he is a different dog. When he trusts, he fully opens up – allows himself to be brushed, picked up, and calmly endures procedures. He has a few beloved volunteers and gradually accepts new people. With strangers, he is rather distant than aggressive. He needs time and patience, but when he loves, he is endlessly devoted. He gets along well with other dogs, although at first contact he can be too enthusiastic, so the future dog companion should be understanding. It is possible that he may also accept a cat. He is not jealous or resource-protective, but he strongly attaches himself to his person and can stand by their side. On walks, he shows a joyful, energetic nature – he gladly explores the area and returns when called by someone he trusts. We are looking for a calm home without small children for him, where he will receive stability, patience, and a sense of security. In return, he offers loyalty and love for life. Arrange a walk:

About CEZAR

What life with CEZAR looks like

CEZAR is a small adult dog waiting at Schronisko Kraków in Kraków.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires patient rehabilitation due to trauma from isolation and shelter stress

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting CEZAR, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CEZAR?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kraków handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CEZAR on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CEZAR if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kraków will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is CEZAR already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CEZAR isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kraków early rather than rehoming privately; they know CEZAR and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
