Cezar

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Cezar is a beautiful and wise dog joyfully greeting people. This is a dog who is discovering the world one small step at a time, as he used to only know the kennel run as his entire world. Cezar arrived with us frightened and unresponsive, but thanks to our work and the great hearts of shelter staff, he has opened up to the world, beginning to react to his name and walking better on a leash. We are also getting him accustomed to being in the building, in the office, and the veterinary office, teaching him to walk on slippery surfaces and coming when called. Sometimes Cezar panics, lying down on the floor and refusing to take another step, at which point we give him time to calm down and observe his surroundings. When he notices there is no danger, we continue. Cezar is a young dog with great potential, and we are looking for someone who will be able to help him develop, assist the dog in overcoming his fears, and take care of him forever. We have not noticed any aggression in the dog, but Cezar is afraid of sudden movements and new situations, and it is unknown how he would react if extremely frightened, so we are looking for a home with adult caregivers, preferably with teenagers. Cezar should live in a quiet place; an excess of stimuli in the city, a lift, stairs, hallway, etc., will constantly force the dog to fight his fears.

PL·Show original

About Cezar

What life with Cezar looks like

Cezar is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cezar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cezar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cezar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cezar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cezar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cezar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cezar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
