Adopt Chance available

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 5 years

Hi I’m Chance. I’m 5 years old, and I found my way into rescue after my time at the pound ran out. It was all a bit scary and confusing, if I’m honest. I’m still figuring things out.I can be quite an anxious boy in certain situations. But once I know I’m safe, that’s when the real me comes out.If I bond with you, you’ll know it. I’ve got the wiggliest bum and the happiest tail you’ve ever seen, all ready to greet my favourite people. I absolutely adore fuss and attention. Gentle strokes, kind words, sitting close together... that’s my love language. I’m a soft-hearted, gentle soul who just wants to feel secure and loved.I’ll need someone patient and understanding who can help me build my confidence at my own pace. I’m just a little unsure about life sometimes. With reassurance and positive experiences, I really will blossom.I’ll also need some support with my dog socialisation. I’m a bit fearful around other dogs right now, so slow introductions and ongoing positive training will help me learn that I don’t need to worry. In return, I promise to be the sweetest, most loyal companion you could ask for. I may take a little time to find my brave, but when I do, you’ll have a best friend for life.If you’ve got a kind heart and a bit of patience to spare, I’d love to meet you. Maybe my second chance starts with you. NAWT Hertfordshire Tylers Way Watford-By-Pass Hertfordshire Watford WD25 8WT Choose an item from our Amazon wish-list and it will come straight to us! About Chance available

What life with Chance available looks like

Chance available is a medium-sized adult english bulldog dog waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs support with dog socialization due to fearfulness around other dogs

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chance available, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chance available?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chance available on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chance available if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chance available already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chance available isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chance available and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
