Chance

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 5 years

Hi, I’m Chance!Could you take a Chance on me?I’m 5 years old, and I’ve been waiting for my special someone for quite a while now. I’m not really sure why... because if you ask my friends here, they’ll tell you I’m an absolute lover boy! I LOVE people. Seriously! If there’s fuss and attention on offer, I’m there. I’ll greet my favourite humans with my huge, wide-mouthed smile, a wagging tail and a bum wiggle that practically has a mind of its own! I’m a happy, affectionate boy with a huge heart. When I love someone, I love them wholeheartedly. I’m loyal to my people, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than being close to you, soaking up attention and showing you just how happy you make me.Did you know I can walk nicely alongside other dogs with the right introductions? I enjoy getting out and about, but I’m not quite ready to share my home with another dog just yet. I’m looking for a home where I can be your one and only, enjoying all the love, attention and fuss for myself! Please don’t let this put you off, though! I have so much love to give, and I’m hoping there’s someone out there who will see what a wonderful companion I could be.I’ll bring the smiles, the cuddles, the ridiculous bum wiggles and a whole lot of love into your life. I’ve been waiting a long time for someone to choose me. Could you be the one I’ve been waiting for? Please share my post and help me find my forever home. It’s time someone took a Chance on me! About Chance

What life with Chance looks like

Chance is an extra-large adult english bulldog dog waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chance, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chance?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chance on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chance if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Chance already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chance isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chance and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
