Chandler

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Puppy Β· 4 months

πŸ–€ Chandler the rescue puppy who has one last chance to catch the Happy Bus this year πŸ–€ Chandler hasn’t had the best of luck. He and his siblings were found when they were only a few days old and had to be lovingly raised by hand. Since that moment, they have known nothing but love, kindness and affection. Chandler has been reared in a home alongside cats and other dogs, helping him grow into the friendly, loving and well-socialised young dog he is today. He was supposed to travel with his sister ( Cassie) on our August Happy Bus, but there simply weren’t enough spaces. She left for a new life while Chandler stayed behind in Portugal, still waiting for someone to choose him. Sadly, black dogs are often considered unlucky in Portugal and are frequently overlooked. Chandler hasn’t received a single offer of a homeβ€”something the volunteers find impossible to understand because he has the most wonderful temperament. He is friendly, affectionate and full of love for everyone he meets. By October, Chandler will be around six months old & we have no Happy Bus travelling in December If he misses it, his chances may become even slimmer. As a bigger, older puppy, Chandler could take up the transport space needed for two smaller puppies, making it more likely that he will be overlooked again in favour of younger dogs. Chandler has done nothing wrong. He is simply growing up while he waits. He is a handsome, black Labrador-looking boy who is expected to be around Labrador size when fully grown. Somewhere, there must be a family who can see beyond the colour of his coat and give this loving young dog the future he deserves. Could you be the person waiting at the other end of his journey? Most of our dogs have been found abandoned as young pups, discarded as unwanted litters, as is often the case in Portugal where neutering is not as common as in the UK. After rescue, all of our pups spend time in private shelters and foster homes, meaning they arrive happy, healthy and well socialised. UK Registered Charity Number 1183775

About Chandler

What life with Chandler looks like

Chandler is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs N Homes Rescue in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chandler, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chandler?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs N Homes Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chandler on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chandler if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs N Homes Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chandler already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chandler isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs N Homes Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chandler and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
