adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! Chap is currently in a loving foster home in Romania with his siblings Chip, Billie, and Kabu. It’s a safe place, but not a permanent home. He is 2 months old, weighs around 2 kg and is likely to stay small. At first glance, he looks almost like a small mixed breed, with his soft, dense fur, delicate features, and his calm, slightly cautious gaze reminiscent of a kitten rather than a typical puppy. Chap is very friendly and clingy. He seeks the company of people, gets along well with children, and shows gentle and careful behavior when interacting. He plays well with other dogs and has no problem with cats (perhaps because he himself looks a little kitten-like). Despite his calm nature, Chap remains a puppy. Even though he may stay small, he shouldn’t be underestimated. Just like small dogs, he needs consistent training, clear rules, and time. Behind his sweet face lies not just a puppy but also responsibility. His new family should be aware that Chap has not yet experienced life in a loving family. He needs to learn the complete puppy ABCs, and puberty is still ahead of him. During this time, he needs people who can be patient, loving, and clear, forgive his little mistakes, and guide him through life. Attending a positively working dog training class would definitely be beneficial. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still new to him. During puberty, he will test boundaries and may even forget what he has learned. But with the right guidance and perseverance, Chap will develop into a wonderful companion. Chap is looking for a permanent place in the life of people who appreciate his gentle character and will accompany him on his journey. He travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive assessment. A foster home would also be an option. Do you want to give Chap the place where he can truly flourish? A big thank you to Gritt, who named him Chip and gave him the first step into a new life. As of April 30.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Chap

What life with Chap looks like

Chap is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chap, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chap?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chap on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chap if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chap already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chap isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chap and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
