Charlie

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 3 years

We’ve had Charlie neutered to prevent him from becoming the center of attention for irresponsible bull-dog breeders. The dog, who has already lived through two years and undergone numerous changes, with little care and no proper training, arrived with us on October 10, 2025, after having moved through at least four or five different homes. We’ll be very careful in selecting his new owner—someone who can provide him with a permanent, loving home! But what does a “good home” mean for Charlie? Ideally, it would be someone with experience handling bull-breed dogs—a person who is calm and balanced and can pass those qualities on to Charlie; someone who is active yet reliable and able to meet the needs of a young bull-dog who hasn’t learned much yet. Charlie has only been with us for a short time, so we’re still getting to know each other, building a positive bond, and gradually teaching him. Charlie is an energetic bundle of joy who, once released from his enclosure, understandably doesn’t know where to start with all that pent-up energy—he jumps around, pulls on the leash, chews things, spins in circles, and just goes wild... However, we’re already starting to see gradual improvements: he’s beginning to understand that the leash isn’t a toy—it’s something you walk on, not pull against. For now, he still reacts panically to the muzzle, so that’ll take a bit more time. He’s highly responsive and can tune into your mood. We’re not yet ready to let him go to his new home—partly because he’s just had his neutering surgery, and partly because we need to continue monitoring him closely. Still, we’d be delighted if any potential new owner could join us and spend some time with Charlie before adoption—taking him for walks, teaching him basic commands, and most importantly, showing us that they’re serious about Charlie and capable of handling him. Right now, whenever we need to handle Charlie—for veterinary care or for anything new that might scare him—we’ve seen him fully use his strength to defend himself... And that’s understandable—after all, no one’s ever taught him otherwise. But we’re pointing this out for those who might think this will be an easy ride... Believe us, sometimes it’s far from easy! We kindly ask that only interested parties from the Zlín region get in touch.

CS·Show original

Věřte, někdy to má do pohodičky daleko!

About Charlie

What life with Charlie looks like

Charlie is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Útulek Zlín-Vršava in Zlín-Zlín 12.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charlie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charlie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Zlín-Vršava handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charlie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charlie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Zlín-Vršava will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Charlie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charlie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Zlín-Vršava early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charlie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
