Charlie

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Charlie, a rough diamond on four paws, is my name! I'm new here at the animal shelter and originally from Romania. I took the long journey to find a new home with you. Currently, I share a kennel with my buddy Cooper. Our descriptions are similar, but I'm the bigger one (relatively speaking). Together, we are the duo infernale at the outdoor kennel: two bright, loud guys who like to give a good thump. Following the motto: "Come close, I'll eat you!" Well, that's just show. We're still working on our image. But I also have a different side. I love my humans here, I throw myself at them (when I get a chance) and would love to sniff and lick them from head to toe. Because I'm constantly jumping up, they already call me Hüpfdohle. So please, I'm not a bird. And most importantly... I have that irresistible dog look. I'm sure I'll wrap you around my finger... or paw! Now, let's get down to business: I'm a fine fellow, but still wild and unruly. I love cuddling and snuggling, let me touch you everywhere and love food. My fur feels very soft. You could say: I'm a real rough diamond, a raw puppy without any training. I don't know what "house training" means and I still chew on everything that comes in front of my nose - just like a puppy. But balls are great and if they also throw out food, even better. The animal shelter staff is trying to get me used to a collar, harness, and leash. So you could say: I'm a dog in training - the adventure has begun!!!! So, people, who gives me a chance to prove to you that I'm the dream dog you've been looking for? Make an appointment. I'm waiting for you!!! Your Charlie Animal adoptions are currently by appointment only. If you're interested in one of our animals, please contact us by phone at 05481 / 4146 or by email.

DE·Show original

Also bitte, ich bin doch kein Vogel.

About Charlie

What life with Charlie looks like

Charlie is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Tecklenburger Land in Lengerich.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charlie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charlie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tecklenburger Land handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charlie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charlie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tecklenburger Land will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Charlie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charlie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tecklenburger Land early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charlie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
