Charlie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt Charlie now! adoption requirements adoption process Charlie in 15834 Rangsdorf is a ca. 7.5 month old male dog, seeking a quiet home where there isn't too much chaos. He is sensitive but, typical of a young puppy, he is curious and interested in his surroundings. In some situations, Charlie still shows insecurity, such as with sudden movements or unfamiliar sounds. He needs people who can show him how life as a family dog works with patience, time, loving consistency, and clear structure. With the right sensitive upbringing, Charlie will develop into a loyal and lively companion. When visitors come, he is initially reserved and does not want to be pressured. However, if given the space and time he needs, he becomes curious. In Romania, Charlie barely had the chance to learn anything – now, step by step, he is catching up on his foster home. He is very attached to his foster mother, and he has a lot of trust in her. He cuddles, plays, and allows his safety harness to be put on and taken off without a problem. Walking on a leash currently still poses a challenge for Charlie, but it is practiced continuously and in small steps. For Charlie, we wish for a rural home with a large property and close family ties. When fully grown, he will be a large dog of approximately 65 cm shoulder height. Which breeds are in his Romanian mix, we cannot say – what is certain is that he brings a big heart, enthusiasm, and a loving nature once he has gained trust. Whoever gives Charlie a home wins a loving, sometimes clumsy companion on four large paws. Charlie seeks people who give him security. He will not be rehomed as a guard dog. Not to people who do not give him security and leave him to himself. Charlie seeks people who bring security, trust, time, and empathy. Charlie is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas and naturally has an EU pet passport. Many thanks to Monika V. for giving Charlie his identity! As of: 06.01. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Charlie

What life with Charlie looks like

Charlie is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charlie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charlie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charlie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charlie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Charlie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charlie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charlie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
