Charlie

Mixed Breed · Female

Description: Our animal welfare advocates report: The sweet Charlie was found wandering alone through the streets near Lleida. It was clear at a glance that she had no home and no one to care for her. She was searching for food and water, for safety, and for a place to shelter. To protect this lovely dog from the dangers of the street, she was allowed to move into the animal shelter. Charlie is a very friendly, outgoing Podenco-mix dog. She shows no fear toward people; she happily responds to every kind word and gentle touch. Charlie is a playful, active dog. She gets along wonderfully with the other dogs at the shelter and loves playing with them—whether it’s a game of running around or chewing on a rope together. Charlie is already quite comfortable walking on a harness and leash. She’d love nothing more than to take a lovely stroll through the woods with her human, or to wander across meadows, then snuggle contentedly and tiredly on the sofa afterward. These are Charlie’s wishes: a loving home of her own, where her human will be there for her and they can spend many happy years together. She’d also make a great addition to an already existing dog. Who will fulfill Charlie’s wishes? Who will bring her home? Information about the Podenco: Please note: The feedback from the animal shelters reflects the current behavior of the animals here.

About Charlie

What life with Charlie looks like

Charlie is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charlie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charlie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charlie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charlie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Charlie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charlie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charlie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
