adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Charlotte can stay forever! Your story: There are dogs who are happy as loners – and then there is Charlotte. The approximately 10-12 year old female dog, who could be a Shi-Tzu mix, is a soul of a dog, but one thing she simply cannot do: be alone. For the gentle senior, life is only worth living if she has a canine companion by her side. In the company of other small dogs or even puppies, she blossoms, shows her friendly side, and feels safe. However, if she is left alone, the little mouse pulls back completely, loses her appetite, and sinks into deep sadness. We can say nothing about Charlotte’s relationship to cats. Charlotte is an incredibly cuddly companion who meets people with great affection. But to her good fortune, a little extra care is also required: Currently, she is fighting skin problems that require consistent further treatment in her new home. We are therefore looking for people with heart and a sense of responsibility who are willing to go the path of recovery with her, so that her skin will soon shine as brightly as her nature. At 30 cm, Charlotte is a handy and quiet companion who longs to be a dog bed in a household where a friendly only dog is already waiting for her. She does not want to be the only four-legged friend in the house but rather as a faithful copilot on the path of daily life with her new “crew.” Who has a heart for this gentle lady and gives her the security and medical care she so desperately needs? Charlotte is eagerly waiting to finally arrive and never be alone again. Charlotte travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her family. She also has her EU pet passport in her luggage. She would also be happy to go to a foster home. Thank you, Kerstin, for giving Charlotte her name and thus the way to her personal “Happy End.” As of: 22.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Charlotte

What life with Charlotte looks like

Charlotte is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charlotte, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charlotte?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charlotte on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charlotte if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Charlotte already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charlotte isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charlotte and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
