Onze charmante Cooper, een Soft Coated Wheaten Terrër, heeft een leeftijd van 9 jaar (19-03-2017). Hij is bij ons binnen gekomen omdat de eigenaar helaas niet meer voor hem kon zorgen. Cooper is een lieve hond die graag aandacht krijgt van zijn baasje. Spelen daar is hij niet zo van, hij komt liever om een uitgebreide knuffelbeurt. Naar vreemden reageert hij over het algemeen goed. Wel kan hij soms beschermend zijn voor zijn eigenaar, hij uit dit door te blaffen. Lieve Cooper houdt ervan om lekker mee op pad te gaan. Hoewel hij lekker vlot mee loopt, heeft hij wel last van artrose in zijn rug. Hele grote wandelingen kan hij niet meer maken. Bij zijn vorige eigenaar kon hij goed los lopen. Met andere honden is hij wisselend; in zijn vorige thuissituatie is aangegeven dat hij contact met andere honden niet leuk vind. In de opvang zien wij echter dat hij dit wel kan. Zo heeft hij met een labrador teef gespeeld en staat hij naast verschillende honden op de wei. Wel kan hij zijn voer verdedigen richting andere honden en moet hier rekening mee gehouden worden. Aan de lijn kan hij naar sommige honden wel uitvallen of er naar blaffen. Dit is alleen als de andere hond dicht bij is, op dat moment kan hij ook wat sterk zijn. Is de hond wat verder weg, dan kan hij ze prima negeren. Gezien Cooper altijd alleen heeft gewoond plaatsen wij hem niet bij andere huisdieren. Cooper is bijna nooit alleen thuis geweest en als dit een keer moest dan blafte hij veel. We zien dat hij in de kennel zijn rust kan vinden en naast dat hij enthousiast bij het hek staat te wachten tot hij aandacht krijgt ook soms lekker rustig gaat liggen. Wij zoeken dan ook een baasje die veel thuis is of oppas heeft voor hem, zodat hij niet alleen hoeft te zijn en dit eventueel rustig opgebouwd kan worden. Het is voor ons niet bekend hoe hij met kinderen is, het is een vriendelijke hond dus wij verwachten dat hij bij kinderen vanaf 14 jaar geplaatst kan worden. Cooper moet regelmatig getrimd worden, dit doet hij over het algemeen wel goed. Bij zijn achterhand vind hij minder fijn en kan dan wel een waarschuwing geven door middel van een snauw.
