Cheese

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Personality:Meet Cheese, our adorable, very cuddly mixed breed puppy. She came to us as a stray with her brother Mac so we have limited information about her. Cheese has been spending her time in a foster home with her brother where she has been very affectionate and loves curling up on your lap. Like all puppies, she is playful and inquisitive, but of course, a little mouthy and likes to chew on things. We would recommend that you enroll Cheese into puppy training classes to help her start off on the right paw. Pictures to be uploaded shortly. Behaviour:Cheese is a very sweet and affectionate puppy but she can be a little worried about new things and seeks comfort from her handler. She is playful with her brother and has started to become more confident in the home but will need a fairly quiet home where she can be given time and patience to take things at a pace she is comfortable with, so she doesn’t get overwhelmed. Housing:Cheese will need an adopter who can introduce her gradually to being left alone. We recommend this starts quite early on, so we can desensitise her to being alone, but this must be done gradually so we do not create a negative association. A family who can prioritise Cheese’s learning and welfare at this early stage is imperative. Cheese would love an enclosed garden to run around in. ***Please do not apply for this puppy if you are not in a position to adopt immediately, we will not process applications with holidays approaching***. Children/pets:Cheese could live with children of any age. We would consider a home with another calm / confident dog that would be able to help show cheese the world isn’t a scary place, they will also need space to be separated if needed. She could live with a dog savvy cat. Please note – puppies can be very mouthy and nippy, so adults should consider this before applying, interactions with children MUST be supervised at all times. Vet history:Cheese is up to date with flea and worming treatment. She has had her first vaccination and will need to return to the shelter for her 2nd vaccination and neutering (when she is old enough) Adoption fee:The adoption fee is £250. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated. Additional information:All rented and leasehold properties will require written consent from the property owner or agent. This needs to be in place before completing an application form. If your application is successful, staff will request a copy.We reserve the right to remove a reserve at any stage of the adoption process if we believe it is in the best interest of the dog.Adopters should consider that previous medical conditions will now not be covered by insurance. Adopters are responsible for the on-going medical costs once the animal has been adopted.Due to the high number of applications we receive daily, regrettably we will only be able to contact the successful applicant. Please note you have to be 18+ to apply for an animal. About Cheese

What life with Cheese looks like

Cheese is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat dog waiting at RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cheese, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cheese?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cheese on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cheese if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cheese already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cheese isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cheese and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
