adoption requirements adoption process Request this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Cherie has found her own home! Her story: Sweet little Cherie is already waiting in Germany for her new family, as the child in her current family is allergic to her. Cherie is an alert, partly stubborn little female dog. She loves walks in the forest, freshly mowed grass, and digging holes in the garden. She also enjoys playing with balls or sticks, sometimes even the worn-out socks are not safe. She is house-trained and can also stay alone for several hours. When the family returns, she is happy to be petted and cuddled. She gets along well with children. With her fellow animals, she is friendly as long as they are friendly; she will avoid unfriendly or aggressive fellow animals. Cherie has not yet understood that she cannot fly and likes to chase a bird now and then. Cats know her and want to play with her, sometimes too roughly, which the cats do not appreciate. Driving in a car is not one of her favorite activities; it is pure stress for her. In her current family, she slept on her bed in the bedroom and could always move freely in the house and in the garden, to the dismay of the scattered children's toys which were occasionally gnawed on. Cherie can also be a good guard dog. With strangers, she barks and if the master or mistress did not hear the doorbell, she alerts them. She is about 1 year old, weighs around 12 kg with a shoulder height of about 30 cm. At the vet, she was tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. Cherie is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated and brings her EU pet passport with her. She can be visited. Many thanks, Eve! With your nametag sponsorship, you have given ChéRie an identity and thus the start of a new life. As of: 11.06.

Stand: 11.06.2025

About ChéRie

What life with ChéRie looks like

ChéRie is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting ChéRie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ChéRie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ChéRie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ChéRie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ChéRie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ChéRie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know ChéRie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
