How do I contact the shelter about Chicago?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Empattie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chicago on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Chicago if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Empattie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Chicago already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Chicago isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Empattie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chicago and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Chicago

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Chicago, a male dog, was rescued from an unsanitary shelter in Romania by our partner "WOF" and arrived at our shelter in Normandy on September 5, 2026. Chicago comes from a place where animals were crowded into cages, so he is wary of humans, whom he knows little about. His stay at our shelter in Normandy is a way for him to acclimate to a new life. Despite this, he allows himself to be touched but does not like too much excitement. He will need a patient family that gives him the time, calm, and space necessary to evolve. At his age, everything is still possible! Sex: male Estimated date of birth: 2026 (about 6 months old) Weight: 8 kilos (he should remain small) Dog-cat compatibility: yes Cat compatibility: not tested yet Identified, vaccinated, spayed/neutered Adoption price: 330 euros. Depending on the tests performed, this may require verification and in any case a gentle introduction with the cats of the adoptive family. iframe{display:block;text-align:center;margin:0 auto} ❤️ Do you want to offer him a home? About Chicago

What life with Chicago looks like

Chicago is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Empattie in menerval.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.
