Adopt Chicle

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Description Chicle first arrived in February 2024, surrendered by his family who could no longer take care of him. He arrived very disoriented and with a lot of anxiety. However, by November of the same year, a new family appeared who wanted to adopt him, despite the fact that he was already showing difficulty in handling and very high anxiety. Unfortunately, not all stories end happily, and the adaptation and work with Chicle have not been easy, leading to his return to the animal shelter. Chicle is a very affectionate dog with a lot of energy but is an insecure dog, which means he has certain behaviors that are not easy to manage in a household. He needs to work on impulse control, and the family that adopts him must know that he will need training, regular physical activity, and time. However, with effort, consistency, and following the necessary guidelines, Chicle can improve significantly and become very grateful. For all these reasons, and to avoid more back-and-forth, we are looking for a family with some knowledge of dogs, without small children, and willing to give him space, follow the necessary guidelines, and dedicate the necessary time to give him a good life, with stability and lots of love. He could be suitable with other dogs, although due to his insecurities, he is not compatible with all and it would be advisable to do the necessary compatibility tests between them.

About Chicle

What life with Chicle looks like

Chicle is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Keywords in Spain.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chicle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chicle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Keywords handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chicle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chicle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Keywords will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chicle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chicle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Keywords early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chicle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
