Chip

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Chip is a super clever young boy who is very eager to learn and do well. He is keen to learn new tricks and enjoys his training and enrichment, especially if tasty treats are involved. He is an active dog who enjoys his walks and adores getting lots of fuss and attention. Chip would love an active home that can take him on adventures and show him the world. He will thrive in a home that has the time and patience to let him explore the world in his own goofy way, whilst also providing him with training and guidance to help him be the best dog he can be. Chip is a large, loveable, friendly and playful boy full of fun energy with a big heart. Chip’s ideal home would be an active family, as he is an active boy and a family keen to keep his brain busy with things like agility, dog sports, hiking adventures. He is a bright boy who loves to learn new tricks and is very eager to please! Chip loves the attention of people and would make a great WFH companion too. If you can match his energy, give him lots of love and provide him with his forever home, let us know by putting him in your favourites when you fill out your application. Cheerful Chip is looking for his forever home with adopters who are up for a challenge with our big goofball and love a large/high-energy breed! Chip would be best suited as the only pet, but could have dog pals on a walk. He would also be best in a home where everyone is aged older secondary with minimal leaving hours initially, with the ability to build that up over time. He would need a secure garden to keep his brain busy and to maintain his house training skills. This boy LOVES his toys, so his dream would be a big walk, to return home to his dinner in an activity toy followed by a dig in his toy box.

About Chip

What life with Chip looks like

Chip is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Loughborough in Wymeswold.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chip, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chip?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Loughborough handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chip on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chip if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Loughborough will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chip already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chip isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Loughborough early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chip and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
