Adopt Claire

Female · Adult · 4 years

Black female dog Claire finally seeks her own happiness. Claire is one of those dogs that you look at and immediately feel like she wants to say something. With her black-and-white fur, fine expression, and warm, calm gaze, she appears like a soul that has seen much. She currently lives in a foster home near Bistrița and waits there for someone to discover her and finally give her a home. With her age, Claire brings many advantages: the wild puppy phase and the exhausting teenage years are long behind her. She is neither overexcited nor "ready for a fight," but shows a pleasant, adult calmness. Dogs of this age are often incredibly grateful, more calm in nature, and focus much more on their people. We are sure that Claire will definitely make a great lifelong partner. Claire shows friendliness and openness towards people without ever being pushy. She allows closeness, observes a lot, and tries to understand what is expected of her. She generally gets along with other dogs, but, like many adult dogs, her liking is decided by the other dog. Claire has probably not met many things yet. In her foster home, she mainly lives outdoors, so she still has to discover much of what is second nature to other dogs. Sounds in the house, different floors, stairs, household appliances, car rides, or visitors—all of this will be new to her and may initially unsettle her. She also feels insecure on the leash. All of this should be practiced in small, well-dosed steps with patience, time, and positive reinforcement. Whoever gives her security and notices her small progress will quickly realize how much she tries to do it "right." For Claire, a home means first arriving, observing, building trust, and then gradually learning what a family dog can be. House training, leash handling, orientation to people, or relaxed moments in the house—all of this can be discovered together with her future people. A positively working dog training class can be a valuable help. Whoever adopts Claire gets not a "ready-made" dog but a wonderful, sensitive soul that is ready to start anew and give her big heart to her person. Claire travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and neutered, with an EU pet passport, after a positive foster home. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for this dog! This dog will be rehomed together with the association Ein Herz für Streuner e. V. The double advertisement on both association sides and possibly on portals serves to increase her visibility and find the right home for her faster. With the association, there is a close exchange. Every inquiry for the dog is discussed and forwarded directly. We will take care of the processing as soon as possible!

About Claire

What life with Claire looks like

Claire is a large adult dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Claire, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Claire?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Claire on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Claire if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Claire already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Claire isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Claire and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
